Kayak Roll ClinicsSEP

Come join us under the lights for this one clinic to learn the fundamentals of rolling a kayak. You will be introduced to a variety of roll techniques including the C to C Roll and Sweep Roll. Participants will be given both one-on-one and group instruction with plenty of time to practice. Your confidence will no doubt increase after attentive instruction and using a variety of different boats. Return participants are welcome or should enroll in our roll session practices. This course is suited for people who are comfortable with the fundamentals of kayaking and want to learn a new skill to help boost their confidence in the sport and enhance their boat control.

  • Learning the mechanics of a roll.

Prerequisite: Completion of the 2 Star Kayaking Award, or previous experience with a kayak and the ability to perform a wet exit.

Kayak Safety & Rescue ClinicSEP

Join Kayak Safety & Rescue Clinic for a brief talk about  safety equipment and choosing a kayak with safety features. Then watch demonstrations  in the water of rescue techniques that you can learn to use if needed!

Participants will learn and practice the basics kayak rescue. The clinic covers prevention tactics such as bracing as well as group and self-rescue techniques in the comfort calm water.

These “tune-up” courses are designed primarily for people who have decided to pursue formal Singapore Canoe Federation awards at 1, 2, 3 or 4 Star. We will review all the skill and knowledge requirements for the award you are pursuing, work with you to assess your areas of strength and weakness, and then provide additional instruction and practice to make sure you are ready for the assessment

We offer refresher kayak courses at our kayak coaching centre to enable re-certification so paddlers can continue their learning and progress onwards through the Singapore Canoe Federation Kayakin Star program.  The day will be spent reviewing all of the skills learned during One Star Kayaking course, plus a few more!

All of the 2 Star techniques will be covered including moving sideways and steering effectively. In addition, participants will learn how to rescue others – and how to be rescued using the T/X-Rescue. Participants will also learn how to rescue themselves, with assistance from others (Eskimo bow rescue).They will also take part in a sheltered water journey to help them understand more about safety, leadership and group skills. They will finish the course with a clear understanding of what is required for the 2 Star Award.

Kayaking 3 Star Training CourseSEP

The 3 Star Kayak award is about taking your flat water skills and making them GOOD (yes, we did mean to put that in capitals!). By the end of your 3 Star Kayak course you will be happy to control your kayak on large open water and on moving rivers.  You will be able to demonstrate the ability to safetly and skilfully control your kayak in the prescribed conditions through blending their body, boat, and blade positions. This will incorporate the application of the various practical techniques.

This course covers all the required skills and theory. In order to successfully achieve the 3 Star Kayak award you need to be able to demonstrate an ‘eskimo’ roll.

Some of the known established events in those days were the Kronborg race in Denmark, later the Devises to Westminster race in Great Britain, and the very colourful Sella Descent in Spain. These long distance paddling have evolve in to canoe marathon today. One of the best way to gain interest in the sport is through kayaking expedition where one could refine their paddling skills while enjoying the exploration.

This is true expedition kayaking, not just a paddle around. Participant will be challenged by the remoteness, the weather and the paddling itself but the rewards can be great. The experience from this expedition help enables individuals to recognize and manage emotions, understand their personal values, develop caring and concern for others, make responsible decisions, establish and maintain positive relationships and handle challenging situations effectively.

Expedition will build confidence and advance independent paddling ability. It will enhance the participant boat control technique.

If you live in a waterfront city or are visiting the Marina Reservoir, chances are you’ve seen at least one stranger navigating your metropolis in a kayak and wondered, Could that actually be . . . fun?  Most would assume that kayaking in a natural setting is the best thing – but urban kayaking is amazingly beautiful.  This is urban kayaking is not just a paddle around. Participant will be challenged by the weather and the paddling itself but the rewards can be great. The experience from this expedition help enables individuals to recognize and manage emotions, understand their personal values, develop caring and concern for others, make responsible decisions, establish and maintain positive relationships and handle challenging situations effectively.

Kayaking over long distances has been know as long as kayaking has been an organised sport. For many years these activities lead to national competitions only. Some of the known established events in those days were the Kronborg race in Denmark, later the Devises to Westminster race in Great Britain, and the very colourful Sella Descent in Spain. These long distance paddling have evolve in to canoe marathon today. One of the best way to gain interest in the sport is through kayaking expedition where one could refine their paddling skills while enjoying the exploration.

Innotrek programmes focuses on Experiential Learning Methodology– the coaches will facilitate the sessions to develop students with positive character building, which essential for all sportsmen. This include positive communication, positive solving, decision-making, interpersonal relationships, teamwork, as well as boosting their confidence, self awareness, self-reliance, discipline and leadership skills.

Duration: 1 Session of 4 Hours 

 

At the end of each session, coaches will dedicate time to facilitate these learning objectives:

  • To develop new skills, arose interest and promote active participation of a new sport.
  • To Introduce Kayaking as a sport to student through exploration and expedition.
  • To hone basic kayaking skills.
  • To introduce the fundamentals for safe and enjoyable kayaking experience.
  • To promote positive character building and boosting self-esteem.
  • To create camaraderie amongst participants though exploration and teamwork.
  • 
To foster safety mindset.
  • To step out of comfort zone.
  • To have Fun
  • To create camaraderie amongst participants though exploration.

Pre requisites: participants must be able to swim at least 50m with personal flotation device.
