Introduction to Sport ClimbingSEP

Sport climbing is simply ascending rock faces using only your hands and feet with all of your protection being fixed bolts that are preplaced on a rock face. Sport climbing, like top-rope climbing, is all about the rewards of rock climbing with minimal risks. Sport climbing is about pushing the limits of your climbing ability in a generally safe setting. Sport climbing enables participants to grow at individual levels, exploring risk and building self confident. The challenges providing unending opportunities for self discovery and development. It’s a heck of a lot of fun too!

Introduction to Sport Climbing is a 2 hour session to allow participants to learn the basics of climbing safety, climbing equipment & techniques.

Innotrek programmes focuses on Experiential Learning Methodology– the coaches will facilitate the sessions to develop students with positive character building, which essential for all sportsmen. This include positive communication, positive solving, decision-making, interpersonal relationships, teamwork, as well as boosting their confidence, self awareness, self-reliance, discipline and leadership skills.

Duration: 1 Session of 2 Hours

 

At the end of each session, coaches will dedicate time to facilitate these learning objectives:

  • To develop new skills, arose interest and promote active participation of a new sport.
  • To introduce Sport Climbing as a sport to student through exposure and participation.
  • To introduce basic techniques of proper climbing, climbing equipment & the safety aspects of climbing to students.
  • To promote positive character building and boosting self-esteem
  • To create camaraderie amongst participants though exploration.
  • 
To foster safety mindset.
  • To step out of comfort zone.
  • To have fun in sports.
  • To build confidence and trust towards peers

SNCS Sports Climbing Level 1SEP

In this Sport Climbing Level 1 Course, participants will be introduced to climbing on a top-rope system. They will also learn about climbing equipment & safety, climbing techniques and communications, as well as being a safe and competent belayer. Successful participants will be awarded the Sport Climbing Level 1 certification from Singapore Mountaineering Federation.

Particicpants must demonstrate the following course requirements :
1. Correct harness usage
2. Correct tie-in technique using the figure-of-8 knot
3. Correct belay technique using a friction device
4. Correct use of climbing calls
5. Perform pre-climb checks

SNCS  Sport Climbing Level 2 (Certificate Course)SEP

Sport Climbing Level 2 course is a progression for Level 1 climbers who wish to learn more, particularly lead climbing. In this 2-day course, participants will be taught to lead climb and the equipment required. Other aspects such as anchor set-up and abseiling will be covered. Sport Climbing Level 2 certification will be awarded upon clearing the assessment.

Participants must demonstrate the following course requirements :
1. Confident with lead climbing on an easy route
2. Correct placement of protection points on a lead climb
3. Correct belaying of a lead climber using a friction device
4. Correct top-out technique on fixed anchor
5. Conduct proper pre-climb checks
6. Correct use of climbing calls
7. Safe equipment handling
Innotrek programmes focuses on Experiential Learning Methodology– the coaches will facilitate the sessions to develop students with positive character building, which essential for all sportsmen. This include positive communication, positive solving, decision-making, interpersonal relationships, teamwork, as well as boosting their confidence, self awareness, self-reliance, discipline and leadership skills.

Duration: 2 Sessions of 3.5 hours, Total 7 Hours

 

At the end of each session, coaches will dedicate time to facilitate these learning objectives:

  • To develop new skills, arose interest and promote active participation of a new sport.
  • To introduce Sport Climbing as a sport to student through exposure and participation.
  • To introduce techniques of lead climbing on artificial or bolted climbing walls, climbing equipment & the safety aspects of climbing to students.
  • To promote positive character building and boosting self-esteem
  • To create camaraderie amongst participants though exploration.
  • 
To foster safety mindset.
  • To step out of comfort zone.
  • To have fun in sports.
  • To build confidence and trust towards peers
  • To equip participants with skills and knowledge set by Singapore Mountaineering Federations for Sport Climbing Level 2

 

Pre-requisite: Sport Climbing Course Level One certificate

Successful participants will be awarded the Singapore National Climbing Standards Sport Climbing Level 2 certification from Singapore Mountaineering Federation.
