Vietnam

Vietnam

The Socialist Republic of Vietnam, is the easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. It is bordered by China to the north, Laos to the northwest. With a population of over 86 million, Vietnam is the 13th most populous country in the world.

The people of Vietnam broke away from China in AD 938, until it was colonized by the French in the mid-19th century, and the outbreak of the painful Vietnam War. Henceforth, it is not surprising that older Vietnamese who remember French colonial rule, speaks french.

Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is rich in culture and an excellent place to learn about the resilience and history of Vietnam. There are plenty of museums and historical sites, capturing the past of this lovely place.

Through cultural exchange programmes and home stays at VAC village, participants can self-experience the lifestyle of a true Vietnamese. There will also be interaction with students form the local schools, to foster friendships, as well as recognizing comforts back in Singapore. There will also be opportunities to witness the natural beauty Hanoi has to offer. For example, witnessing the majestic limestone karsts and caves of Halong Bay. No doubt why UNESCO declare Halong Bay as a World Heritage.
